What they are building

Developed a surface-EMG wristband and generic decoding models trained on data from thousands of participants. It has been on sale since September 2025 as the Meta Neural Band.

Where they are clinically

Non-medical product

Sold as a consumer product. It has not been evaluated or authorised as a medical device.

A consumer input device, not a medical product.

Access today

Available

Authorised and obtainable for a defined group of patients or users.

Shown in people
Handwriting at 20.9 words per minute and gesture control from the wrist, with models that work on a new user without calibration (Nature, 2025).
Still an aim
A general input device for computers and glasses.
What stands in the way
It needs a working pathway from brain to hand, so it does not serve people with paralysis as a brain implant can.

Why this company matters

The wristband reads motor neurons at the periphery, not the brain, and that is its advantage: no surgery, and models that work out of the box. It sets the practical bar any non-medical brain interface has to beat.
