  • 13 Mar 2026China NMPA — Medical device registration. Adults aged 18 to 60 with tetraplegia from C2–C6 cervical spinal cord injury, for assisted grasp with a pneumatic glove. A marketing authorisation in China only.
  • Aug 2024China NMPA — Special review procedure for innovative medical devices. A faster review route with closer contact with the regulator. It is not an authorisation.

Why this company matters

NEO is the first implanted BCI that a regulator has cleared for sale, and it got there by asking for less. It sits outside the dura, records from few channels and does one thing: open and close a pneumatic glove. That is a narrower function than the cursor and speech systems in US feasibility studies, and a far more complete regulatory record. The registration trial's results have not been published in a peer-reviewed journal yet; they are what will show how much everyday function the grasp restores.

Across the stack: families by layer

Themes, by number of families: electrodes and arrays (29), signal processing (24), stimulation (19), signal acquisition (16), peripheral interfaces (12), connectors and feedthroughs (11). A family can carry several.

Published in: China (80), United States (3), counted over the 82 families whose full record was read.

76 more families counted

The 60 most recent are listed.

Families found for Neuracle in the EPO’s worldwide database, grouped so that one invention counts once. A filing shows what a company sought to protect. It does not show that the technology was built, is in a product, or works in people, and themes are read from titles, abstracts and classes, not from the claims. How to read this
