Paradromics says its electrodes have recorded for four years in sheep
The company gives no signal-to-noise values, channel counts or decoding results, and cites no paper.

Evidence class: Reported claim
The short version
- Two sheep with cortical modules of the Connexus electrode design have recorded stable spikes for more than four years, the company says; six with the full system, for nearly two.
- The release gives no signal-to-noise values, channel counts or decoding results, and cites no publication.
- Connect-One, the company's study in people, has one participant. No human data have been published.
Paradromics announced on 8 October that two sheep carrying cortical modules representative of the electrodes in its Connexus BCI have recorded stable spikes for more than four years, with no migration of the arrays and the animals healthy. A separate study of the full system in six sheep has run for nearly two years. The release calls the spike signal-to-noise ratio stable without giving its value.
On 19 October Paradromics also announced an imaging collaboration with Siemens Healthineers, which has a briefing of its own.
Connect-One, the company's study in people, began at the end of March. In September Paradromics said its first participant had used the system for real-time speech of her own choosing, again without figures.
How solid is this
Both announcements are the company's own. The durability release reports no quantitative results and cites no paper or preprint. Four years applies to cortical modules representative of the Connexus electrodes; the full system has been tested for nearly two. No human data from Connect-One have been published.
Company reported. Stated by the company itself in a release, blog post or presentation. Not independently verified and usually without full methods.
What to watch
- 01A paper or preprint with the sheep data: signal-to-noise over time, channel yield and histology.
- 02Results from Connect-One.
This technology remains experimental and is not an established treatment. Access is limited to registered clinical studies.
Changes since publication
- When this briefing was published on 20 October it also described the Siemens Healthineers collaboration announced on 19 October. That account now has a briefing of its own, and this one keeps to the sheep.
