What it concerns

The present application provides an optical brain-computer interface system and method, belonging to the field of biomedicine. The method comprises: an acquisition unit, on the basis of a preset interface, acquiring an optical neural signal from an optical acquisition device; a preprocessing unit preprocessing the optical neural signal, obtaining first neural image data; a registration unit performing parallel registration on the first neural image data in accordance with a preset first registration algorithm and a preset second registration algorithm, obtaining post-registration second neural image data; a decoding unit decoding the second neural image data according to a preset region of interest, obtaining neural activity representation data; and according to the neural activity representation data, a feedback unit obtaining a feedback control signal so as to perform closed-loop feedback. The present application uses an interface to directly obtain underlying optical neural signals via an optical acquisition device, performs steps such as real-time preprocessing, registration, and decoding, and uses neural activity representation data to obtain a feedback control signal so as to perform closed-loop feedback.

The abstract as published by the patent office, from US20260244270A1. It describes the invention; it is not a statement of what is protected.

What the filing appears to be about, read by published rules from its title, abstract and classification codes (A61B5/0059, G06F2203/011, G06F3/015, G06T2207/30004, G06T7/00). The claims define what a patent protects, and they are not read here.

Why it matters

Signal acquisition
Neural signals are microvolts. They have to be amplified and digitised on many channels at once, inside a power budget that must not warm the tissue. The problem behind it: low noise on hundreds or thousands of channels at milliwatts.
Signal processing
A decoder is only as good as the features it is given, and recordings drift and pick up noise from movement, muscle and stimulation. The problem behind it: stable features from signals that change from day to day, computed fast enough to act on.
Decoding
This is the step that turns brain activity into a command or a word. Its accuracy and speed are what a user experiences. The problem behind it: accuracy that holds over months without frequent recalibration, for more than one user and one task.

Why the layer matters to the field, not a judgement of this filing. A patent family shows that protection was sought. It does not show that the technology was built, is used in a product, or works in people. The whole stack
